We have been listening to TV tributes and memories of Billy Graham today.
In high school, the only out-of-town trips for Ken and I were football games. My sister-in-law went along as chaperone for us and our friends.*
There was one exception. In 1951 Billy Graham held a crusade at Farrington Field in Fort Worth. I was a sophomore in high school and Ken had graduated the previous year. It was our only out of town trip alone until I was in college.
Farington Field was filled to capacity. Billy Graham was impressive. We had never heard a voice comparable to George Beverly Shea. The evening was awesome and inspiring. It is one of our favorite memories.
