I first read “Three Letters From Teddy” in 1987. The superintendent of the school district where I was employed felt all teachers and staff should read the story. I agreed with him then, and I still do.
The story was written by Elizabeth Silance Ballard. About a month ago I had the privilege and pleasure of corresponding with her. I learned of her other stories and books. I went to Amazon and started downloading to my kindle. I first read “Three Letters from Teddy and Other Stories.” It brought back memories of students I had worked with. I was also touched by stories of ordinary people and their experiences. I next read “Welcome Home Teddy Staddard,” followed by “Three Rivers to Cross.” Both carried on the story of a grown, successful Teddy and Miss Thompson’s life as well as adding the story of a girl in Teddy’s fifth-grade class and her perseverance. Next, I read “The Fourth Wife of Mr. A. Markham Gillespie.” It was an interesting read. I am now ready to begin “Whoppin’ and Hollerin” in Onslow County.” It is a cold, rainy afternoon, and I begin reading shortly.
I recommend all of her books to you. Go to Amazon, books by Elizabeth Silance Ballard. Read them and enjoy!
